There is a small handle embedded in the cover. When you want to use the floor drain, you can pull it to take off the cover. When it's not in use, the cover can be fastened to the floor drain. The unpleasant smell from the pipes or downstairs will definitely not come up.

Generally speaking, the reason for water leakage in bathrooms is that there are many interfaces in the floor drain, the corner of the wall and the pipe root, resulting in gaps and thus causing water leakage. If it is determined that the floor drain is the cause, it is usually because the interface between the floor drain and the sewer pipe is not installed and connected tightly, resulting in gaps and thus causing water leakage. The solution is to open the floor drain and reinstall it. Then, apply a coating and local waterproofing treatment at the junction of the pipe wall and the cement layer, which can solve the problem. There is no need for a comprehensive waterproofing project at all.
